From the Magnolia Court Motel office, enquiries or bookings can be made for these excursions and tours:
- Opotiki has three lovely local beaches - Waiotahi (surf club), Hukuwai and Tirohanga - and a wealth of history with numerous interesting intricately carved ‘totem’ poles in and near the town
- Hiona St Stephen’s Anglican Church is well worth a visit. Learn about the missionary who met a most gruesome death
- White Island - boat or helicopter to NZ’s only active off-shore volcano
- Diving or snorkelling with dolphins and seals
- Fishing from marlin and king fish to surfcasting for mackerrel or snapper
- River boat trips - including jet boating, white-water rafting or kayaking the awesome Motu River, to canoeing or kayaking the impressive Waioeka River with its climax at the Devil’s Canyon. Also there are kayak excursions on the picturesque Ohiwa Harbour and sea-kayaking along the beautiful local coastline

Horse-riding
- Mountain biking – experience the Motu Trails offering four unique trails, from single and multi day cycling through to exhilarating downhill biking. The Dunes Trail (19km return), The Motu Road Trail (78km), the Pakihi Track (44km) and the Loop Trail (91km).
- Hunting - our area is renowned as one of the best in NZ. The Uratawa Conservation Area, Waioeka Gorge Scenic Reserve and the Raukumaia Conservation Area all provide plenty of wild pigs and deer

Bush Walks - are very popular from early spring to late autumn, with the shorter walks possible even in winter. The Hukutaia Domain Reserve - a 20-30 minute walk through magnificent native forest settings, including the huge historic Tahetakerau, a 2500 year-old puriri tree, which is hollow at the base and was the internment place for high ranking Maori. The Opape Coastal Walk - a one hour walk offering wonderful views of the sea and rocky coastline plus ancient pa sites and the landing places of the original canoes.
